Especially when in walks one Dane Kendrick, not at all the familiar, southern charmer of home, but an animal all his own.
More than, and not just, a love triangle; a story of growing up, friendship, loyalty, first love, primal love...and life.

What an AMAZING story about life, love and growing up! I was hooked from the very beginning. The main characters, Laney & Evan, are just so unbelievably sweet and innocent. Their love is so pure and unconditional. Watching their relationship progress from best friends to boyfriend & girlfriend and then best friends again was so incredibly heart warming and heart breaking at the same time. And I swear I felt the pain of their separation as if I was experiencing it myself! I'm always amazed when an author can evoke so much emotion in you with their words. It really is a beautiful thing and speaks volumes about said authors talent.
So one minute I'm cursing Evan out in my mind for giving in so easily to the temptations of college life as I'm falling hopelessly in love with Dane and his endless attempts to woo Laney. And the next minute I feel completely betrayed and don't know what to think or how to feel about either one of them! It's an emotional roller coaster to say the least. One I would gladly endure over and over again. Even after I've finished reading I still can't say who I would choose! Why can't she just have them both?! I realize that would turn this into a whole different kind of book if that where the case, so we'll just leave things the way they are.
That ending tore me up though. My chest literally ached and I was actually breathless for a little bit while it all played out. It's almost like a mini cliffhanger. Most of the loose ends are tied up but you're left with just enough suspense & drama to keep you on the edge of your seat anticipating the continuation of the story.. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book in the series and really can't praise this one enough. It's something you need to experience for yourself.
