I am Arie Belle and up until my mother’s unexpected and mysterious death my life had been pretty simple, but then things became dark and, at times, hopeless. Even my uncanny ability to communicate with nature had turned its back on me. My only saving grace is my lifetime friendship with the boy next door, River, whom I had always thought of as my soul mate up until my eighteenth birthday when everything seemed to change. My body tingles with heightened sensations and my emotions veer out of control. They are further tested when Ashe, a beautiful stranger with a powerful draw, enters my life and challenges my heart and soul. Amidst the rush of feelings after years of numbness, my true destiny slowly unravels and my journey to find out what I am, to find my mother’s killer, and stop my own death becomes a frantic rush before the next full moon. This powerful story encaptures the true meaning of love and the dark corners of life that can either suck you in or save you.
Awesome debut book from Ms. Hart! Reality is well written with great character development and a unique & beautifully told story line. It's completely different and more original than your typical paranormal read, and I enjoyed every minute of it!
The imagery was incredible and just so vivid, it was like a picture being painted in my mind. You're immediately drawn into this amazingly detailed world where nothing is what you expected nor anything you could have planned for. I think the big question while reading is, "What is Arie?!" The suspense was literally killing me! I was practically pulling my hair out for the 1st half of the book trying to figure out what exactly Arie could be. (And no, I'm not telling! You'll just have to find out for yourself.) I was pleasantly surprised with the big reveal and even more intrigued than when I first started reading. Well done, Ms. Hart. You have clearly mastered the art of the suspenseful build up in your first attempt!
I was absolutely blown away by the depth of Arie's character and her range of emotions. I really connected with her and was just completely drawn into her life's story. I love a book that can make me feel every emotion under the sun. To physically have my heart ache for a character is an amazing achievement on the authors part.
She did a wonderful job of tying up all the loose ends yet left enough room for more to come in the series. I'm looking forward to the next installment and would whole-heartedly recommend this awesome book to those who love a good escape into another….reality. (Pun intended)
