Dark Dawn Blog Tour & Giveaway

In the beginning God made the heavens and the earth, and everything in between. The In-between was unplanned, unexpected, and unwelcome. Every action causes a reaction and when mankind was born, so were the Fae. Suddenly it was up to Heaven to save Earth. God created Angels to right his wrong, to save human kind. A deal was made, an agreement of sorts. The Angels would protect humanity from Fae domination and destruction, and in return they would have inhuman strength and immortality. Thus a time of angels swooping in to save humans from free will, bad decisions, and big mistakes began. They protected humans from the Fae who intentionally enslaved them, leaving shells of humans, or worse, leaving nothing at all.

Even God doesn’t always learn from mistakes. Angels were given freedom of choice. Some Angels chose wrong. When some of them spread their wings, they went too far, and just as Icharus was punished for getting too close to the sun, they were punished for getting too close to mankind.

So they fell. Falling was the easy part.

Excerpt

It was late afternoon when they returned and it was Anna’s restlessness that caught Seth’s attention. The rest of the Guardians went to their rooms to unwind, but Anna was pacing on the roof. Instead of settling into their office, as he normally did, Seth walked the extra steps to discover what was troubling Anna. This was completely unlike her.

“Anna,” he said calmly when he reached her.

She whipped around. Her wings were unfurled and twitching nervously. The rustling of her feathers concerned him. When he saw the look in her eyes, he was even more disturbed. “Why?” She asked as her eyes darted about...up at the sky, then over the edge of the roof, back to Seth and all around. “Why are we not permitted to form attachments? Why can we not...be friends with humans?” The frustration in her voice was evident. “Why, Seth? What is so wrong and different about us that we can’t be around His other creations?”

Seth slowly came closer. He feared she was about to cry. In all their years of communal living, he had seen her cry...never. She hadn’t shed a tear over wars. She had seen countless horrific events pass, yet this was the first time anything had ever seemed to get under her skin and affect her.

“There’s nothing wrong with us, Anna. You know that. We simply shouldn’t be distracted. Attachments create distractions; they make us weak. We would be inclined to put the good of the few above the needs of the many. That isn’t our mission. No entanglements. No distractions. These rules were created for a reason.” He spoke in gentle soothing tones. It was obvious his words fell on deaf ears.

She shook her head. “We weren’t supposed to live together. We were supposed to be scattered about the globe. Instead, you decided that we should act as one. If that can change, if the Father can understand the rationale for that change...maybe there could be more...”

Sin at Sea by Emma Nichols Blog Tour & Giveaway!

When Alysin decided to surprise her boyfriend at work with dinner, the surprise was on her. Since he was going at it with his secretary on the conference table, she packed a bag and called her BFF. Jolie and Alysin had been traveling the country, working as digital nomads for ten years ever since graduation. Taking this as a sign it was time for a new move, they decided to take a cruise, regroup, and make a plan.

Then she meets Mr. Bedroom Eyes. Following her lead, they pretend to be married so that she can rid herself of the guy who started hitting on her before the boat left the dock. Though it was supposed to be a momentary arrangement, he asks her to take it one step farther. Then another and another. The cruise promises to be memorable in every way that matters.

Along the way, Alysin learns that she won't have to fake an orgasm if she's with someone who knows what to do, that not all men suck, but the best ones suck really well, and that sometimes what starts out as something pretend, can fast become something completely real. Will the woman who lives life with no regrets, regret that she made that stupid rule about not exchanging names and contact info?

Excerpt

We walked further without speaking, my anticipation building. Finally, he broke the silence. “See, I have given both your dilemma and your offer careful consideration. It’s clear to me that there is really only one solution.” He smiled broadly at his proclamation.

“Oh, really?” I asked with an eyebrow raised. “And just what is my dilemma?”

“Obviously, you need a great protector to fend off unwanted men on this cruise,” he announced, puffing out his chest for effect, further proof that he was the protector I needed.

I smiled because he was so damn cute. “Oh, but I have Jolie,” I remarked.

“Listen, if this Jolie exists, I have yet to see her. You keep claiming her, but both times we’ve met, she was nowhere to be found.” He shrugged and looked about. “So, I think you should consider my offer. It’s a pretty great offer.”

“Oh, really. And just what is that?” Looking about, I realized that we had stopped in the cruise ship jewelry shop. Then Mr. Bedroom Eyes dropped to one knee. I backed up a step. “What are you doing?” I asked, confused and concerned. This could go very badly. I may have misjudged him completely.

“Relax,” he urged. “I just have one very important question to ask you. And these things are better said with jewelry than I ever could with words.”

I started to take a second step back. I’m a runner. Only he grabbed my hand and halted my escape.

“Will you be my wife for the week?” He asked. Then he batted his eyelashes at me.

It really took all the pressure off. Throwing my head back, I let out a huge laugh…a combination of relief and pure joy. “Are you sure you don’t want to date me? I hear there’s a lot more sex in dating than there is in marriage?”

He stood slowly, contemplating the idea. “This is true, but since I’ve had no so sex with you thus far, any would be an improvement. Plus, since you already announced me as your husband, I thought this would keep the charade going.”

My Review:

In my experience reading erotica novels/novellas, they tend to go one of two ways. Either its all sex and no story (which believe it or not can be exhausting), or not enough sex and way too much story. Let's be honest, if you're reading erotica then I think its safe to assume you're in it for more than just the dialogue. Emma Nichols has hit the nail on the head, Sin at Sea is the perfect blend of seriously steamy sex with a heart melting storyline, making it one super sexy, fun beach read. Ms. Nichols has successfully covered all of the bases when it comes to sexual encounters: girl on girl, threesomes, toys & blindfolds and so much more. Basically anything your heart desires! Alysin is a confident beautiful woman with the sexual prowess equal to that of a an entire high school football team. She's not afraid to have some fun, exist in the moment and live life on her own terms, picking up and relocating whenever she sees fit. Who wouldn't admire that quality in a heroine?! Following her escapades on the cruise is beyond enjoyable and downright entertaining. After reading this I think I need to book a cruise ASAP! I will be anxiously awaiting book 2, Vixen in Vegas!

About the Author:

What made her decide to be an erotica author?

Simple.

How else was she going to parlay her two favorite past times into a career?

Emma is single and loving it. Like her first character, Alysin, Sin for short, she doesn't believe in settling or in settling down. She loves to indulge in her passions whenever the mood strikes and enjoys keeping all of life's cliche moments spicy.

Known for her sense of humor, Emma surrounds herself with friends whose antics often become the source of book fodder. Her ideal situation would be to explore the Caribbean while writing. She pursues that dream daily.

I've always loved reading, it is a common known fact that I pretty much demolish a book a day. Expensive hobby, but a great one! I've dabbled with writing since the day I could actually write. So, it was only fitting that I had my first book published when I was 15.

If I'm not writing you would generally find me reading, trawling social networking sites and listening to music, I will pretty much listen to any kind of music but I have two favourites, country music has been with me since I was a little toddler so this is a massive favourite of mine. I also love to listen to movie scores, especially when I'm writing!

I currently live in Yorkshire with my husband.

Thanks for reading!

EXCERPT:

Michael shakes his head and grins at me. I fight the sudden urge to run my hands through that silky midnight hair of his. “Always so quick to label and categorize. I guess that’s what will make you an excellent attorney. Assess. Label. Categorize. Add up the W’s. ” He leans in a little and whispers, “How about we just go with the flow? See where it leads us. Label later?” He raises his brows, offering my type-A dominant personality a direct challenge.

Caution to the wind, very atypical for me, I reply, “OK. I’m up for it.” Challenge accepted. “You?” Challenge returned.

“You bet, Lorraina,” he rasps softly.

He leans into my door and places his hands on top of mine. I’m suddenly quite anxious and ever so grateful for the door between us. My hands get clammy and my heart races. Blood races and pounds in my ears, making me feel very much awake now. One hand moves up to brush my hair from my forehead and moves down feather light until his knuckles brush across my cheekbone and lips. He pulls his thumb slowly across my lips. It’s excruciating. It’s exquisite.
Both of his hands come forward to frame my face gently, and he pulls me in for a kiss. A too quick kiss. It’s over before I realize it’s even begun. He gives me a half smile and turns and walks away.

“Michael!” My voice barely sounds human. More animal in nature. It’s raw with ache.

He turns and takes two long strides back to me. This time when he grasps my head it’s anything but gentle. He pulls my lip in and nudges my lips open with his. All rational thought escapes me. I mirror his grasp and enjoy the fullness I feel with him in my mouth. I give as good as I get. This kiss is nothing like our two before. I savor it.

When he turns to walk away, I release a long pent up breath. If he would’ve looked back, he would’ve seen that I was the one on my knees now.

My Review:

Where do I start?! This novel was just plain beautiful! I am so blown away by the unbelievable talent new authors are demonstarting in their debut novels and Ms. Halat is no exception. She has weaved an unbelievable story of young love, heartache, transformation and tragedy. The characters were so well developed & the story flowed perfectly. The flashbacks were an amazing touch to the story, allowing the reader to witness the history between our two main characters.

From their very first meeting it seems as though Lorraine & Michael are meant to be together, everything that happens in life brings them right back to each other, proving they are each others destiny. The relationship is intense & consuming and you (the reader) are taken along for the ride. And what a ride it is! I laughed, I cried (or maybe blubbered uncontrollably) and fell in love with this story. One of the things I loved the most is how Michael attributed his personal improvements to reconnecting with his religious beliefs & attending Church regularly. I always enjoy religious undertones in my stories w/o being overly preachy and think it was an excellent touch to the story and Ms. Halat did an exceptional job of giving substance and humility to her characters.

I would highly recommend this book (and a couple boxes of tissues) to anyone who can handle a story that doesn't quite fit the "Happily Ever After" mold, yet leaves you with enough hope to see the possibilities for a brighter future.

" I think its that I can identify with tragedies more. Life is tragic. A lot of people interpret that to mean all doom and gloom; but, to me, within tragedy there lies a chance for a new beginning, a new life. The optimist, the romantic in me looks for those little wormholes and that chance to find happiness. some people don't search for that chance and let tragedy shape them, ruin them." - Lorraina (Thank you to the fabulous Ms. Halat for supplying me with this quote when I couldn't find it!!)

My Review:

First of all let me start by saying that I'm a HUGE believer in fate and things happening for a reason. So, of course, I absolutely LOVED the concept of this book! Ms. Herrera has put together a very impressive debut novel. It was extremely well written, with enough twists and turns to keep you intrigued and completely captivated. The characters were well developed and very real making them easy to relate to and so lovable. The story flowed smoothly, transitioning from one scene/situation to the next seamlessly. One of my favorite things about reading is the visualization. When the author describes the world they've created so perfectly that the book plays out like a movie in mind, I'm left completely in awe. The suspense build up was intense, I was literally on the edge of my seat wondering what secrets from their pasts Nina and Connor were hiding. And then once the action picked up I couldn't put it down! Sapphire Universe has all the qualities I look for in a novel...humor, romance, drama, action & an AWESOME story line! I would definitely recommend this book and looked forward to reading the next in the series.

Meet the Author:

I am a wife of a U.S Army Soldier and mother of a beautiful little girl. I work for the Wyoming Department of Revenue in Cheyenne Wyoming, and no we don't still ride horses out here. I've been in love with reading since I first discovered the Harry Potter series in 4th grade. I don't just read a good book I devour it. After reading hundreds of novels I finally bit the bullet and sat down to write one of my own. I had an idea in my head and as soon as I started writing, the story seemed to play out right infront of me. Nothing has ever felt so natural. About 10 chapters into it I decided that I was going to take the plunge and get it self published as an Ebook. "Sapphire Universe" is a Contemporary Romance novel for adults, because lets face it, I'm female. Romance is what I like to read so it's what I'm going to write. I'll be posting some teasers and keeping you up to date on my progress as I finish writing and editing. Thank you so much for your support, and I can't wait for you to read "Sapphire Universe."

Jordin Williams - Plagiarizes!!!

In case you missed the big news....

"Author" Jordin Williams was caught plagiarizing Authors Tammara Webber and Jamie McGuire's work!!! Jordin basically copy & pasted large chunks of text from Easy (by Webber) and Beautiful Disaster (by McGuire) ...both books I've read and LOVED...and put it into her own book, Amazingly Broken.

Much thanks to Dear Author for breaking this story and providing proof of Jordin's misdoings! Check out the original post here!

You can follow some of the discussion that took place earlier today on Twitter between Jordin, Webber & McGuire by visiting GalleyCat.

All I can say is what nerve!! It is seriously disgusting for anybody to steal another authors work and try to pass it off as their own. And its even more unbelievable that she thought she could get away with it! After coming up with excuse after excuse all social media links for Jordin have been taken down and she's conveniently vanished. Her identity is in question b/c while the Goodreads profile pic is of a woman (some say its a stock photo) the gender clearly says "Male". And apparently she has also gone by the names Jordin Baker or Jordin Bishop.

Interesting, huh? It doesn't end there! Supposedly (according to Jordin herself) she is a ghostwriter turned author who was tired of not getting credit/recognition for her work and decided to write her own books. Yet when the sh*t hit the fan Jordin denied ever having writing Amazingly Broken and instead claims she hired a ghostwriter who plagiarized without her knowledge. Yeah right. Why does a ghostwriter hire a ghostwriter?? She then goes on to blame 2 different websites for what happend (guru and odesk). And let's not forget that on the Goodreads page for her book it clearly says "I loved writing this book!" Shady much??

If you purchased Amazingly Broken by Jordin Williams RETURN IT ASAP!!!

Consequences by Aleatha Romig Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Besieged by memories of a brutal abduction, Claire Nichols wakes in an unfamiliar bedroom, within a luxurious mansion. Her recollections have one common denominator, the man she just met, Anthony Rawlings.

Unbeknownst to Claire, for a very long time, she has been within Anthony’s sights. Many of the pivotal events in her life occurred, due to his sinister manipulation. Every action has a consequence, and his actions result in their chance meeting.

More than a psychological thriller, Consequences is a vivid story of one woman’s struggle to survive incomprehensible circumstances. Every aspect of her being suddenly depends upon the tall, wealthy, dark haired, dark eyed businessman. Anthony Rawlings is known to the world as prosperous, benevolent, and kind. Claire quickly learns that he can also be a menacing controlling captor.

With few options but concession, Claire attempts to earn her freedom, while enduring a hellish existence that truly appears perfect. Persevering tests and trials, she struggles to retain her pure Midwest values and beliefs. Encouraged by memories of a loving upbringing, she gains strength in the simplest of joys: solitude in nature and good in the face of evil.

His goal in sight, Anthony’s calculated agenda encounters an unforeseen detour. He becomes captivated by Claire’s beauty, resilience, and determination. The interaction of these two compelling characters instigates strong emotions: fear, anger, love, and lust. Claire and Anthony’s tumultuous journey flows into uncharted waters of intrigue and passion.

Utilizing vivid detail, this 167,000-word novel unfolds like a movie, before the eyes of its readers. From the opening criminal abduction, through twists and turns, to the unlikely romantic thrills, the suspense climaxes as Anthony’s motivation becomes evident.

Anthony and Claire must decide if they will stay true to one another, or allow preceding actions to result in justifiable Consequences.

Excerpt
While still in the bathroom, her heart rate increased as she heard the faint beep again. He didn’t knock. He just opened the door and entered. Claire imagined him surveying the empty suite. If she stayed in the bathroom, would he eventually come for her? Or leave? He waited silently in the bedroom. It took a minute or two. But slowly, Claire opened the bathroom door and entered the suite.

She used all her strength to suppress the fears that screamed to get out, determined to meet him head-on at his mind game. The first things she saw as she entered the suite were his eyes, his dark black eyes, resembling voids or black holes. His lips were moving. He was talking, yet Claire could only hear the memories of the previous night. She walked to the bookcase at the far end of the suite, feigning strength.

The fake resolve melted as she turned to see the eyes staring directly at her. Then almost instantaneously, he was there, right in front of her. His proximity caused her stomach to wrench, bringing back the nasty bile from earlier.

He grabbed her chin, pulling her eyes and face toward the dark voids. His strong voice was deep, slow, and authoritative. “Shall we try this once more.” It wasn’t a question but a statement. “It is customary for one person to respond to the greeting of another. I said good evening.”

Claire’s knees went weak at his touch. She wanted to yell, to run, but she couldn’t let herself. If she couldn’t be strong, she could at least avoid fainting. “I’m sorry. I don’t believe I am feeling well.” With his grip still upon her chin, she knew he could feel her body tremble.

He repeated, “Good evening, Claire.” This time, it was more drawn-out. His eyes were so cold. Claire couldn’t distinguish what they said, only see the depth of their infinite darkness.

“Good evening, Anthony.”

Interview with Aleatha!

Today we would like to welcome the fantastic Aleatha Romig to the blog! Thanks so much for being here today!

What inspired you to write Consequences?

I’d always wanted to write a book. It was a bucket list type thing. In 2008 my husband lost his job, it was in construction materials and the economy tanked! He began working a third shift job. Our two oldest children were off in college. Our youngest was going to bed about 8:30. That left a lot of alone time.

I had this idea of a woman in a room... I decided to sit down and see where the story would take me. I didn’t write Consequences to publish. I wrote Consequences as therapy or escape from my life. I could totally manipulate and control the lives of these characters. It was more than I could do for myself.

Do you have a specific writing style?

I think I do. I think I have a certain flow and sentence structure. Beyond that, I need to know where I’m going. For all of my books, I’ve written the beginning and the end. Then I let the middle fill itself in. I’ve tried to write without knowing the end, it doesn’t work. The fun part is letting the characters and story dictate the middle!

What books have most influenced your life most?

There are many books I’ve loved. Gone with the Wind is my all-time favorite. I also enjoy thrillers; John Grisham brought me back to reading when my children were young. I like the older Patterson’s and enjoy Greg Isles. I also have started to find more erotic romances, and admit to liking those too. These have all been entertainment, a means of escape! Your question is “influence” the only book I can say has “influenced” me is the Bible – best seller of all time!

What author has influenced you the most?

I belong to the Indiana Romance Writers Association. In our local chapter there are many talented writers, and I’ve learned and been influenced by these woman in many ways. Most of them have much more experience than I. Their willingness to share and encourage has been invaluable.

In a long distance, no direct influence kind of way, I will say E.L. James. Not because I found Fifty Shades amazing... it was good. But, she opened the door to “different books” hitting the mainstream. Consequences Series isn’t erotic; however, it is dark. I breach subjects that previously were taboo. I’m not sure that my series would have received the acceptance it has, pre Fifty Shades.

What book are you reading now?

When I’m really into my writing, I don’t read. However, I asked to read an ARC of Safe Word by Teresa Mummert. So far... fun and HOT!

What was the hardest part of writing Consequences?

The hardest part was deciding how much detail to put in my manuscript. My original draft had more detail. It was so disturbing to my mother and sister-in-law that they couldn’t read the story. So, I decided to employ more of the “fade to black” technique. Honestly, I still have people who think my reading is too disturbing and others who want more detail. I’ve come to the conclusion; you can’t please everyone – so please yourself.

What can readers look forward to in the future?

After Convicted, I plan to do a “novella” called, Behind His Eyes. It will be The Consequences Series Reading Companion. It will have various Tony POV’s. I’m not rewriting the entire series, only specific scenes. I had one blogger ask for Tony’s POV before Consequences begins... while he’s watching Claire.

Ok the first thing I have to ask (because I know it's all I've thought about How did Consequences come to you?

I believe I watch too many strange television shows, like Criminal Minds or have read too many strange books, but one day the opening scene: Claire locked in the room came to me. I decided to write it down and find out how she got there... and if she’d get out.

Do you expect your readers to view Tony as a villain or a hero?

I have NO expectations. I love receiving messages or reading reviews where people say he is both! When a reader says they HATED him, usually threatening some sort of bodily harm, and then turns around and says, they LOVE him, despite their better judgment, I believe I’ve done something special.

Are you getting many invoices for your readers’ therapy for completely messing with their mind? Ha ha ok that was only a joke! But what's the craziest thing one of your readers has said about Consequences?

lol! No invoices because I don’t give out my address! I’ve been threatened! I think I could get some great “group” rates! There is a wonderful “Consequences Series Group Therapy and Hugs” group on Goodreads! Once you’ve completed both Consequences and Truth (because there are many spoilers) I suggest you go visit! There are 3 Tony POV’s on there, too.

Tempest Torn by Nicole Andrews Moore Cover Reveal

A night of passion. A raging fire. A home destroyed.

The sun returned and Joey and Marti felt they had turned a corner in their relationship. Only when they turned that corner, they ran right into the insurance adjustor, Finn. She wasn't just any woman, though. She was the one woman Joey always believed he’d spend the rest of his life with, but they couldn’t make it work. Soon it was obvious that she didn’t just want to adjust the value of the house, but remind Joey of the value of their relationship, and adjust his attitude about the future.

Suddenly, Joey struggles to choose between two women…one who has never and would never hurt him and one that his heart can’t let go despite the hurt. He’s not the only one with a choice to make. Never again will Marti allow anyone to make her question her own worth.

A tempest brewed. A man is torn. A woman refuses to wait.

Vengeance by Jamie Canosa Blog Tour & Giveaway!

Vengeance (Book 2)

Things aren’t always as they seem. In fact, in a world of secrets and lies almost nothing ever is, but Kaleigh made her choices and now she has to live with the consequences.

Haunted by her guilt, Kaleigh is forced to question everything she thought she knew. From friends and foes, to loyalty and love, she’s quickly losing faith in herself and those around her.

Everyone she cares about has been hurtled to the front lines, but can Kaleigh find the strength within herself to keep fighting? Or, surrounded by loss, deceit, and betrayal, will her fiery spirit finally be extinguished?

My Review:

Wow!! I thought book 1 was action packed but Vengeance goes above and beyond and right into freaking AMAZING!! I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole time. Ms. Canosa kicked up the intrigue and betrayal creating one hell of a follow up to Dissidence. This book has you guessing nonstop and utterly shocked when you find out the truth.
There's one twist right after another and even when things seem bleak you can't help but hold onto hope right up until the very end. I loved that Vengeance picks up right where book 1 left off, and doesn't recap half of the story to get you caught up, as some other series tend to do. I wanted to get right back into the story and find out what happened when the bomb went off and my prayers were answered, although it was quite sad. But never fear because Kayleigh has Connor as her support system even though she tries to push him away. Together their crazy do-or-die antics help lead a rebellion as they try to right the wrongs committed against the citizens of the colonies. This story is just as fast paced as the first and flows just as smoothly. You are pulled right into the story and completely captivated as you fight along with the dissidents and feel their wins/losses.  I really hope there is a 3rd book because I would love to see the story continued. Ms. Canosa did an amazing job with this series and I highly recommend it!

Dissidence (Book 1)

In dystopian America, sixteen-year-old Kaleigh finds out quickly what having a big mouth and not enough brains to keep it shut can earn you. A one-way ticket to the work camps that no one even knows exists.

Nuclear war has ravished the nation, and a century later, the survivors are living in an entirely new world. In a society where everything is decided for you, from where you work to who you marry, dissidence is not taken lightly.

But, even inside the camps, Kaleigh’s fiery spirit refuses to be extinguished. In a single moment of defiance, she manages to spark a riot that ignites into a full-blown rebellion.

With growing numbers counting on her, not just for their freedom, but for their very lives, two different boys vying for her heart, and trouble brewing from within the camp itself, can Kaleigh find a way to step up and become the leader everyone is counting on her to be, or will even the most carefully laid plans come crashing down around her?

My Review:

I don't even know where to begin, so right off the bat I'll just say that this was one hell of a dystopian YA novel! I was hooked from the very beginning and finished this book the same day I started. I was seriously intrigued reading the synopsis and can say without a doubt that this novel does NOT disappoint. It's action packed from beginning to end and despite the seriousness of its contents, Ms. Canosa offers comedic relief in the form of witty banter between the main characters and a heroine who is as clumsy as she is crafty. It's a nice change of events & ligthens up the mood of an otherwise serious situation/tone, making it perfectly suitable for younger readers. I found the characters to be well developed and the writing style to flow nicely making it so easy and enjoyable to read. I loved the quick pace of the story, nothing was unnecessarily drawn out and at the same time nothing was left out. As far as cliffhangers go, this one was pretty epic and yes, very sad. Thankfully I had the 2nd book, Vengeance, handy and just picked right up reading again. But I was literally left breathless reading the very last pages. If you're in the market for an awesome YA novel that will totally keep you captivated and on the edge of your seat then this is the book for you!
