Author Spotlight - Jennifer Collin

About the Author:
Jennifer Collin writes quirky, and sometimes gritty, love stories about ordinary people dealing with what life throws at them. She lives in Brisbane, Australia, with her husband, two noisy children and a cantankerous cat. She used to party, but now her idea of a good time is an uninterrupted sleep. These days, her characters do her partying for her, but she doesn't necessarily let them sleep.

Set Me Free by Jennifer Collin is Chick Lit's best kept secret. Readers in the UK have been buying it up by the thousands, landing it in Amazon's Top 25 Bestsellers for Women's Fiction. Backed up by steady sales in the US, this quirky romantic comedy won't stay a secret much longer.

Set Me Free, a David v Goliath story, is the first book in the Evan's trilogy, based on siblings Charlotte, Emily and Andy Evans.

Disastrous love life aside, Charlotte Evans is rather content with her life. Her quaint little art gallery is plodding along nicely, and her sister Emily’s artistic career is about to take off, thanks to her tireless promotion. She even gets to see her best friend every day and drink his delicious coffee in the café next door.

But when dastardly property developer Craig Carmichael comes along, threatening to demolish her gallery and take everything away, Charlotte has an unexpected fight on her hands. Not only is she battling to stop Craig’s development, she’s also struggling against the mysterious magnetic pull that has her on a collision course with Craig himself.

Craig Carmichael is fighting the Battle for Boundary Street on more than one front. The tenants of the building he wants to knock down are mounting a strong case against him and in a hot-headed moment he put his career on the line for a project that is threatening to fail. If the project doesn’t succeed he will lose everything, but for some reason he’s having trouble maintaining his focus.

As their worlds begin to unravel around them, anyone could win. It’s what they might lose that has Charlotte and Craig wondering what it is they really want.

Book Two of the Evans trilogy, Open My Eyes, is Emily's story, and is due for release in April 2014.

Thankful Craig had not yet seen her, Charlotte scanned the room and caught Emily do a double take. She may be happily married, but Emily always noticed an attractive specimen of the male persuasion. Catching Charlotte’s eye, she mouthed ‘Wow!’, and came racing across the room.

‘Cripes, Charlotte, you have to go up against him?’ she whispered.

If you only knew, Charlotte thought. ‘So where did you say your husband was tonight?’ she asked.

Emily simply grinned at her. ‘He’s working late again,’ she answered. ‘Are you sure you can handle this guy?’

‘I can handle it,’ Charlotte said, and herded Emily to a seat in the third row, beckoning to Ben to follow. Could she handle it? Beneath the simmering fury was a fine layer of hurt. Craig had given her no cause to be suspicious the other night. To think he'd been merely playing her all along made her doubt herself. Surely she should've picked up on his insincerity. Was he really that good of a player?

Studying him now, taking his place beside his boss, all evidence pointed to yes.
