It’s all fun and games
I had a simple plan for spring break.
Sun, sand, and a hot guy. Sex on the beach, with no strings attached.
A chance to get rid of this pesky virginity once and for all.
And when I met Tyler McKenna, I thought I had it made.

Until someone gets hurt

But then girls started turning up at Key West landmarks. Girls who looked like me, but with one crucial difference: They’d all been drugged and relieved of their virginity.
The virginity I still have. The virginity Ty refuses to take.
And now I’ve begun to wonder whether there isn’t more to him than meets the eye.

Suddenly, sex on the beach doesn’t sound so good anymore...

I’m just a girl…
I’m a famous country star who’s spent her life cultivating a good girl persona to avoid bad press, but I’ve reached my limit. I’m going away for spring break with my two best friends from college, and we’ve vowed to spend the vacation seeking out fun in the sun—along with some hot, no-strings-attached sex. The only thing I needed was the perfect guy, and then I met Austin Murphy. He might be totally wrong for me, but the tattooed bad boy is hard to resist. When I’m in his arms, everything just feels right.

And I’m just a guy…
I’m just a bartender who lives in Key West, stuck in an endless cycle of boredom. But then Mackenzie Forbes, America’s Sweetheart herself, comes up to me and looks at me with those bright green eyes…and everything changes. She acts like she’s just a normal girl and I’m just a normal guy, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My past isn’t pretty, you know. I did what I had to do to survive, and she’d run if she learned the truth about my darkness. But with her, I’m finally realizing what it’s like to be alive. To laugh, live, and be happy.

All good things must come to an end...

He broke off the kiss, his lips moving down my jaw and over my shoulder blade. I moaned and arched my neck, granting him better access. Anything to make him keep going. I wanted to feel his lips all over my skin, burning through me. Claiming me. His hand skimmed down my thigh, then crept up the inside.

I had a feeling that this could be more than sex, if either of us allowed it to be. The hold he had over me was strong. Stronger than I’d expected or even thought was possible. “Austin...” I breathed. I didn’t even recognize my own voice. “Please. I need you.”

“Are you sure you want this?” he asked, his lips pressed to my pulse. “Tell me to stop now if you’re not.”

I buried my hands in his hair and yanked his head back up to mine. “Yes, I’m sure. Just do it already.”

His mouth smashed down on mine, claiming me without another word. His fingers brushed over my core, and even through the fabric I could feel his touch searing me. When he brushed against my clit, his finger moving in a circular motion, I whimpered in to his mouth and skimmed my fingers down his back. I curved my hands around his butt, holding him in place.

He wasn’t going anywhere.

His other hand cupped my breast, squeezing the aching nipple as he moved his fingers over me. I was strung so tightly I knew, I just knew, I could come with only a few more touches from him. I could feel myself tightening and growing more and more desperate for what he could give me. I arched my back. “Austin.”

Between Us (Sex on the Beach)Between Us by Jen McLaughlin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Between Us by Jen McLaughlin is a great fast-paced, fun novella that you can finish in one sitting…which I did.

While I couldn't exactly get on board with the idea of Mackenzie and her friends going on vacation together and then splitting up to go their separate ways to "get laid", I went along with the story anyway. Honestly, I just kept thinking "How is that safe?!". Maybe that's just the parent in me talking. At the same time I admired their freedom and youthful mentality, I mean you only live once right? So why not be young and carefree & experience life?!

So Mac goes for the first sexy tatted up bad boy she can find who actually happens to be... not such a bad boy. Austin is sexy as sin and has his own secrets to protect so a "spring-fling" is perfect for him. Until of course they start spending more time together and begin to wonder if saying goodbye will be as easy as they had originally thought. I loved their chemistry & how quickly they hit it off. They actually have quite a bit in common so for me they were a perfect match.

What I absolutely LOVED and appreciated about this story is that they didn't claim to be in love after just a couple days of crazy hot sex. Nothing irritates me more than when its insta-love and they can't live without each other. It's just not believable or realistic. So kudos to Ms. McLaughlin for straying from the "norm", this avid reader couldn't be happier! My favorite line which may be a potential **SPOILER** is when Austin says "I think, if you let me, I could love you so damn good. I could make you happy, and you'll save me from myself." Swoon!!! There's no talk of "I love you", but there is "I could love you" which may just be my new favorite phrase.

I would definitely recommend this novella! For a "short" story the characters were well developed and relatable. The story line kept me interested and flowed without any hiccups. I'm actually curious now to read the other novellas in the Sex On The Beach Series.

Spring break in Key West with my besties was supposed to be casual fun. But I never expected to meet James Hunt. Sex and frolic? Yes! A relationship? No. But his hot blue eyes and confident manner drew me in. And when he let me see the man behind the mask, I fell hard, foolishly believing there could be a future for us. Of course I never considered our relationship might be based on lies...or that his betrayal could rock my foundation and make me question everything I believed in...

The moment I saw Quinn I knew I had to have her. She hooked me with her cool eyes and don’t touch me attitude. I had it all, money, social status, and looks. I could get any girl I wanted...until her. When my friends challenged me with a bet to get her into bed by the end of the week, I couldn’t pass it up. But sex wasn’t supposed to turn into love. She wasn’t supposed to change me, push me, and make me want more for myself. She wasn’t supposed to wreck me in all ways. And now, if I can’t turn my lies into truth, I just might lose her forever...

B&N: coming soon!
