Review - MORE THAN FASHION by Elizabeth Briggs

More Than Fashion (Chasing the Dream #3)
by Elizabeth Briggs

They’re enemies who will do anything to win...including each other.

When pre-med student Julie Hong wins a spot on a fashion design reality TV show, she celebrates by picking up a hot English guy in a hotel bar. But too many drinks leads to a night of embarrassment and a major hangover, and wow is she glad she’ll never see him again.

Until the show starts, and he’s on it too.

Julie quickly realizes she’s out of her league among the other designers, and Gavin Bennett, with his cocky grin and sexy accent, is her biggest competition. Julie can't decide if she wants to kiss him or kill him. Or both.

After she’s almost kicked off, Julie convinces Gavin to pretend they’re sleeping together for the camera. The ploy works, but as they get closer to the show’s finale their fake relationship starts to become too real. But only one of them can win the show—and they might both end up heartbroken.

More Than Fashion by Elizabeth Briggs
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Each book in this series just gets better and better than the last!

More Than Fashion brings us Julie’s story as she competes on a reality TV show called Behind the Seams, which is similar to Project Runway. Now if you’ve read the previous books in the series, which isn’t entirely necessary, you know that Julie is the brilliantly creative one amongst her group of friends. We don’t know a whole lot about her other than she’s a master designer, so it was great getting to see more of her personality shine through, and tagging along as she pursues her lifelong dream of becoming a legit fashion designer.

Julie is definitely my favorite character so far. I love her no nonsense take on life. She knows what she wants…at least when it comes to men…and doesn’t make any apologies for it. If only she could be up front with her parents about where her true passion lies… with fashion, not medical school...she would be so much happier and stress free. But they’re not really receptive to the idea and think her dream is just a “hobby”, and becoming a doctor, like her sister Helen, is what she needs to focus on. But Julie’s not about that life, and winning Behind the Seams is exactly what she needs to do to prove to her parents she can make it in the fashion world.

In this series there is no shortage of man candy, and More Than Fashion is no exception. This time we get Gavin, gorgeous as sin and with an accent to boot! He’s also competing with Julie on Behind the Seams and happens to be quite a talented designer. Did I mention he has tatts?? Because you know the accent wasn’t enough. Clearly Julie is drawn to him…especially after they shared a night of passion prior to the show starting. Surprise! Talk about awkward. Well for Julie anyway, Gavin was beyond smitten. Their chemistry is undeniable but Julie’s not a relationship girl. She’s more of a “love ‘em and leave ‘em “ type, but as she soon figures out, you have to give the public what they want. Drama! That’s what reality TV is all about right??

I just loved everything about this book! This series totally plays into my obsession with all things reality TV and nerdy. Not to mention the fact that Elizabeth Briggs is an amazing writer, who brings you quality content, a unique storyline, fun characters, and steam that’ll make you squirm in your seat. What more could you ask for?? I highly recommend anything and everything written by Ms. Briggs, and look forward to reading the next book in the series!
